AWARDS $9 MILLION IN GRANTS
Grants Invest in Environment, Arts, Education
ATLANTA, June 18, 2003 -- The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation recently approved 90 grants totaling more than $9 million to nonprofit partners to create opportunities for underserved youth, preserve green space, sustain the arts and spark community collaboration.

The Blank Family Foundation strives to be a catalyst for positive social change.   It currently awards funding primarily in four geographic areas: Georgia; coastal South Carolina; Maricopa County, Arizona; and Park and Gallatin Counties in Montana, under the auspices of the Mountain Sky Guest Ranch Fund.

Recently approved grants include:

Arts and Culture
  • Alliance Theatre Company, Atlanta, Ga.; $100,000 to support the Student Reviewers Circle and The Collision project.
  • Art Factory, Inc., Augusta, Ga.; $30,000 for general operating support.
  • Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, Hilton Head Island, S.C.; $35,000 to support the ArtsReach After-School program.
  • Atlanta Historical Society, Atlanta, Ga.; $60,000 to support the 2003-2004 Museum Fellows program.
  • Atlanta Landmarks/Fox Theatre, Atlanta, Ga.; $18,000 to support Camp Broadway and Camp Performing Arts.
  • Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn, N.Y.; $20,000 to support the Museum Team program.
  • Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Brooklyn, N.Y.; $44,000 to support operating expenses for the Brooklyn Chorus Academy and organizational effectiveness.
  • Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Charleston, S.C.; $10,000 to support the summer music scholarship program.

Arthur M. Blank founded The Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation in 1995 to share his civic values and the joy of giving with his family.  Since that time, the Foundation has awarded more than $100 million in grants to community causes. 

Mr. Blank co-founded The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, in 1978 and retired from the company as co-chairman in 2001.  He is owner and CEO of the Atlanta Falcons.
