Born to immigrants from the Caribbean region, Daniel is a first
generation American from Bronx, New York. In 1995, he completed a
Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor concentration in
psychology. He is an avid appreciator of culture, travel, photography
and running. He speaks two languages and is learning a third.
Daniel has worked for several national and local community service
organizations including Hands On Atlanta, City Year and the Atlanta
Outward Bound Center. He gained insight and an appreciation for
youth-development work through his involvement with each of these
organizations that provided direct service opportunities that benefit
low-income and minority youth.
Daniel currently serves on the Grantmakers for Education national board,
the Southeastern Network of African Americans in Philanthropy organizing
board, and the Emory Alumni Board. He is the immediate past chair of
the Southeastern Council of Foundations' Hull Fellows committee and is a
graduate of the 2005 LEAD Atlanta program, 2003 Hull Fellows program,
and the 2002 United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta Volunteer Involvement
Program.
